The Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
“When a person dies, all his deeds end except three: Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity),
beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for him.”
— Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1631
Sadaqah Jariyah means ongoing charity and is a guaranteed
recurring reward based upon good actions or deeds that keep on giving. Sadaqah in Arabic means ‘charity’ followed by Jariyah which means ‘ongoing’.
